Landmarks In the Netherlands

There are lots of landmarks in Amsterdam,
We are going to present some of them :

- Dam Square :
The Dam is in the centre and heart of Amsterdam,
the Dam has seen many historical things
over the years,
and was for example, the reception
area for Napoleon
and his troops during the 1808 take-over of the city.
The Royal Palace which dominates the square,
was originally used as the town hall and its
classical facade and fine sculptures were intended
to glorify the city of Amsterdam and its government.

- Amsterdam's canals :
The number of canals have giving the name of Amsterdam to become known as "The Venice of the North". And actually, a trip to Amsterdam is not complete without a boat cruise. A canal tour can be fascinating and relaxing by day. The four main city center canals are Prinsengracht, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Singel. There are also lot of smaller canals.

-Euromast's superfast elevator:
Euromast's superfast elevator takes visitors 185 metres up to the Euroscoop platform for spectacular views of the port. On a clear day you can see for 30 kilometres, while eating lunch or dinner 100 metres above the centre's harbour park.

-The Erasmus Bridge:
The Erasmus Bridge (Erasmusbrug in Dutch) is the beautiful bridge on the River Maas in Rotterdam Holland. The unique suspension bridge has a 130-meter high pylon that supports around 40 cables. The Erasmus Bridge is Rotterdam's most famous city landmark.

The school.

The name of the school is Over Betuwe College.
The OBC of Bemmel !
It's a very big college in Bemmel with lots of class room, a cafeteria, a big lunch place and a play area.
We can eat our lunch pack in the play area or in the lunch place. It's a moderne college and we like it !
When students hasn't got a lesson they are going to a lunch room and they do what they want ( it's amazing because there is not supervisor)  but the class room are really small .

Out side there is a very very big bicycle park because the majority of pupils go to school with it

The dutch food

In the Netherlands the food is very different than ours. We're  going to explain to you their food habits of

First of all in the morning for breakfast they take bread with ham, cheese and butter, or butter with some pieces of stracciatella or small sweets with a cup of tea, but they also have cereals like us.

Then at 12 o'clock they eat in 20 minutes (unlike our lunch which is during 1 hour) in their school hall 2 or 3 sandwiches, which were prepared in the morning before going to school during the breakfast. In their sandwiches the  most of the time there are ham, butter , cheese , and sometimes they put chocolate, grappes, cheese, ham and jam in a one ... It's a few special ...

For the diner they eat between 17 and 18.30 pm they eat normal food for the diner but in their lasagnes there are spinachs.

They eat all day long crips, sweets and food not really diethetic but they aren't fat !

These are stroopwafels that's typicals cookies in Holland, it's delicious ! It's composate of 2 thin wafels and into there is fudge and cinnamon.

AMSTERDAM

On wednesday we went to Amsterdam, it was AWESOME ! First, we went to Anne Frank's huis, we were separated in three groups to visit her house. The day before we had watched a movie about her life and we had to find differences and similarities between the movie and the house. We ate while we were walking  because we had to answer questions about monuments and landmarks in Amsterdam with our penpals. When we were done, we had time for shopping, when we were in H&M trying clothes our penfriends thought that we left them and they went away, leaving us alone in the big unknown Amsterdam. In the evening we ate pancakes on a boat and we came back at OBC Bemmel School. It was a very good day !

Our penfriends !

Hello !
Today we are speak about our penfriends.
We have one or two penfriends for one pupil.
It's not the same daily routine in the Netherlands.
For example we ate between five and six pm but we had a big evening : we watched TV, we played games, we talked with the family...
On Monday afternoon we cooked dinner with our penfriends. It was planned that we would eat it on Tuesday evening at school.

They speak two languages : Dutch and English. They learn French at school but they are not very good at it.
They are very friendly and nice !!!
